Web 2.0

Posted: 2nd October 2011 by Mervyn in Site News

We’re now “The Ostrich”, makes it sound more… “Web 2.0-ish”

No huge changes expected in the future (except maybe more posts, more often).

Also hoping to become more user interaction orientated soon, so get ready to see more of the people behind the scenes and the inspirational contributors.

But hey, what kind of a post would this be without something more interesting than a name change?

PC Gamer to hit the Steam Network

Posted: 17th September 2011 by Mervyn in Technology

If you were in the right place at the right time (for those of you outside of the States) you might have caught a glimpse of “PC Gamer” on Steam yesterday. It’s been confirmed that PC Gamer is coming to beta on the Steam Network but as of yet it’s only available in America. It’s unknown (but we’re still hopeful) whether or not it’s going international but we’ll keep our eyes open for anything new from Steam News.

Razer’s Newest

Posted: 17th September 2011 by Mervyn in Technology

Razer today sent out an e-mail informing people of a community beta sign-up for their newest product, an arcade stick for the Xbox 360. The controller looks to have all the functionality of a regular Xbox controller except it only has one joystick so it doesn’t look like it’s going to hit the CoD market any time soon. It’s just my opinion, but I think this was made just for Street Fighter-esque games. Either way, this looks like something you shouldn’t pass up and another beta under any gamers belt is always a good thing.

We’ll be getting more up there very soon but we’re also looking to partner with artists looking to reach a wider audience. You can e-mail us for more information or if you have any questions.

Also, we only take payment through PayPal, however if you want to recommend other methods to us we’ll gladly consider.

LulzSec Pastebin file

Anyone who has been following LulzSec’s Twitter might have seen the link to a Pastebin file in which Lulzsec seemed to ask people to hack any site they wished in the name of LulzSec in an operation deemed “Operation Anti-Security”

This is just a matter of opinion but at this stage I think LulzSec have taken it too far. They, of all people, should know that not every site or security is perfect but that doesn’t mean you take all their passwords. Hacking should be left for government sites and groups that actually prove dangerous. A bit like Wikileaks.

You could say that’s where this all started, with Wikileaks. When the group got famous for bringing out all that information they received from government channels. But now, after much support from Anonymous, it seems that everyone is trying to be a hacker. This has lead to the spawn of LulzSec. This group initially seemed as if it was doing the same thing that Wikileaks and Anonymous were doing, getting information out there that was necessary to be out there. This however wasn’t the case. Hack were for teh lulz. With no ulterior motive it now seems like there is no moral behind what Lulzsec are doing, or was there any motive in the first place. Nope, it was always for teh lulz.

First (Official) Post

Hello World! Welcome to the Where’s My Ostrich.
First Off, we’d like to promote GenChan, an Irish-based image-board. It’s run by our friend Alex from CornGen and we’d love if we could get some traffic over there for him.

Next up, we’re recording our first pod-cast tonight so that should be up within the next few days. So, ideas, shout-outs and anything you want us to talk about in the comments would be greatly appreciated.

Revamp

Posted: 7th May 2011 by Mervyn in Uncategorized

You may see a lot of posts, comment and content disappearing very soon. We’re completely re-doing the site from start to finish and top to bottom. New, determined people are on-board and ideas are coming all over the place. Expect a whole lot more in the coming days.

New Site.

Posted: 19th February 2011 by Mervyn in Uncategorized

Hello, and welcome to the new site design. First off, I’d like to thank the fantastic David Miller for helping me get this set up. You should check his stuff out.

Second, I’ll be transferring posts from the old site over here that I liked (that’s very few though). But the site will be going through some huge changes. For one, I’ll make a huge effort to update more often and with better content.

So give me a few days to work out the kinks and get it personalized.
